Hello,
I just wanted to send out some of my thoughts about everything going on at Chick-fil-A.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/07/17/dan-cathy-chick-fil-a-president-anti-gay_n_1680984.html
From everything I have read, there are a bunch of mixed stories. I have read that the Chick-fil-A President, Dan Cathy, made some bad remarks about people that are gay. Then again I heard that wasn't true; that he only stated his beliefs. Sometimes, in the media, it is so hard to know what is the truth. I did gather, from several places, that the main problem was that Chick-fil-A supports anti-gay organizations.
We all have a right to our own beliefs.
Here's the thing. Everyone has the right to their belief. Whether you believe gay marriage is right, whether you believe it is wrong… you have the right to that belief. I have things that I believe to be right and wrong. I could never be a politician because I feel the things that I believe to be right are just that, MY beliefs. This is American people; we have rights to how we feel! I am sure I do things that others believe are wrong, so who would I be to judge or look bad on others. I don't sit there and think, "Oh no they’re sinning", that is just not in my mindset. I know what my Bible tells me to be right and wrong, and I try to follow it, but I know I don't always. This is what makes us unique-our own set of morals and principles. I have no problem with anyone standing up for what they believe, in a "loving" manner.
Standing up for what you believe VS. creating more hate and problems.
Through this whole thing, I have seen so many people bashing Chick-fil-A on Facebook and in the media, but don't they have the right to believe how they want?? Why is it okay for people that don't agree with what Chick-fil-A did to slander their name all over the Internet, but all they are doing is standing up for what they believe? There is a big difference between the two. I have friends on my Facebook that post things almost daily that I don't believe in. I comment, read-up, ask questions, but NEVER would I bash them for their belief. If you don't agree with what Chick-fil-a did, then don't support them. That is your right to do so. Now, if Chick-fil-A did say horrible things about people that are gay, then that is wrong. Stand up for what you believe, but don't put others down for theirs. You can go on google or almost anyone's facebook page right now and find links leading you to comments/posts/etc. not just saying they don't agree with Chik-fil-A but saying all sorts of hateful things. People that do that don't make themselves look any better, and I for one have a tendency to shut out what they would like to say about their belief because of it. If you want people to listen to your opinions, you have to do it in a way that they will want to hear what you have to say.
The Facebook Girl.
They also say Chick-fil-A made up a Facebook account to defend itself. However, if you read the story that I read, there is NOTHING to indicate that it was Chick-fil-A that did it. So, what am I missing here... http://gizmodo.com/5928926/chick+fil+a-got-caught-pretending-to-be-a-fake-teenage-girl-on-facebook Anyone can easily go to Google, grab a photo, and make up a Facebook account. Do you know how many people do this on a daily basis? I think people just wanted to say it was Chick-fil-A doing it to try and make them look worse. I would think if they had done this, they would have been a little higher class and knowledgeable than what I read this fictitious person had posted.
This is how the media twists things.
This writer here is making it out like Chick-fil-A avoided the issue... I think they are totally wrong. Chick-fil-A, in the statement, clearly states what they believe, and although it is strongly worded, I don't see where he puts down people that are gay. Somehow, I think this writer just wants to put Chick-fil-A down, and failed in my opinion. http://www.forbes.com/sites/caroltice/2012/07/20/how-chick-fil-a-social-media-bungle-fueled-gay-rights-backlash/ She also tried to point out that the company has some lawsuits against them in this related topic, but don't all companies, unfortunately.
Here is what I found that Dan Cathy stated about all of this.

I see him standing up for what he believes. I don't read anywhere on this page where he is putting anyone down and saying anything near as hateful as people are saying about him and his company right now.
I know the media distorted things, and I am sure there are things that I haven't seen about this story. I'm not the most politically up to date person, as I generally don't even watch the news... I do know it will be a loss for anyone not eating Chik-fil-A, as they are one of the very few customer services places that actually have good customer service! I did hear that some gay rights groups are going to kiss in Chick-Fil-a on the Aug. 1st appreciation day...Not sure what this is suppose to accomplish. I think if they are expecting to be kicked out or a scene made, they are sadly mistaken. Maybe these groups think that they will lose some business because customers won't want to come in, and see two people of the same sex kiss. Well, you can turn on any TV, and go all over the area and see this anyway, so I don't think that's going to reach their goals. Don't we all have the right to kiss anyone we love, anywhere, anyway… so not really sure the point. It certainly wouldn't stop me from going somewhere, and I would only hope it wouldn't other people. http://www.inquisitr.com/286180/chick-fil-a-fallout-gay-rights-group-plans-national-kiss-in-day/
Bottom line, in my opinion, no matter what your belief on who should or who shouldn't get married...
Live how you believe, and respect others beliefs while you stand up for your own.
Show love to all
